What Does Vitamin C Serum Do for Your Skin?
People use vitamin C serum to treat skin imperfections and skin damage. Combined with other skincare products and professional skin care treatments, vitamin C serum can help your skin in many ways. Keep reading to learn about its effectiveness and the potential risks of vitamin C serum.
What is Vitamin C Serum Anyway?
Pro Aging Skincare Kit with vitamin C serum
Vitamin C serum is a topical skincare product typically in liquid or gel form. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that impedes the formation of free radicals. Free radicals can break down collagen and elastin, which are two proteins that help skin keep its elasticity.
Our Bright C Serum is made with magnesium ascorbic phosphate, an effective and very stable form of vitamin C. We also offer a complete anti-aging skin care kit, which includes our anti-aging serum.
How Does Vitamin C Serum Help with Acne?
Vitamin C serums may help reduce hyperpigmentation and acne inflammation. Pure Skin Pro’s vitamin C serum contains helpful antioxidants to help heal acne scarring and it is also noncomedogenic (it won’t clog pores). Vitamin c serum can also reduce redness that often accompanies acne.

How Does Vitamin C Serum Help with Wrinkles?
Vitamin C is an excellent antioxidant. It improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness and brightens your skin’s complexion. Our vitamin C serum also protects your skin from sun damage, which can hasten the signs of aging. Vitamin C serums can’t replace your SPF, though, so please continue to use sunscreen (Read: 5 reasons Why You Need to Make SPF Part of Your Daily Routine)
Can I Use Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C Together?
Ultimate Hydrating Serum
You can use hyaluronic acid, which helps to keep skin feeling hydrated, and vitamin C together. Hyaluronic Acid is a great humectant and is best layered with a complementing moisturizer depending on the skin type. Just keep in mind not all hyaluronic acid is created equal and many over-the-counter hyaluronic acid products are made of molecules too large for the skin to absorb. If you are looking to add a hyaluronic acid, try our Ultimate Hydrating Serum. Also, some products can have an adverse effect on your skin, such as an allergic reaction or pore-clogging. Those with acne should only use products tested on a small area of the skin. Ideally, you should consult a licensed esthetician before using hyaluronic acid or vitamin c. You may not need both initially or may need one vs the other.
How Often Should I Use Vitamin C Serum?
You can use our vitamin C serum twice daily or as suggested by your licensed professional. When trying a new product, however, use it more sparingly to monitor your skin’s reaction in case of sensitivities. Though not typical, it can happen.
How Long Does Vitamin C Serum Take to Work?
You will likely notice skin improvement 4-12 weeks after starting routine use of vitamin C serum. Ready to explore vitamin C serum? I’m ready to get to know you and learn of your needs. Let’s get started on your journey to better skin!

5 Reasons Why You Need to Make SPF Part of Your Daily Routine
Cancer from being outside? You may think, “Nah, not me,” (especially if you’re in your younger years) but if you’re not diligent with applying your sunscreen daily, the chance of the sun’s exposure causing skin cancer is absolutely there.
The sun’s UVA and UVB rays impact your skin’s health. With spring here and summer on the way, SPF may be more top of mind, but a proper sunscreen product is something you should apply every day to prevent skin cancer and premature aging – two things no one wants.
Let’s look at 5 reasons you should include an SPF application in your daily routine, year-round. With the proper SPF sunscreen and healthy skin habits, you can stay protected.
Everyday Benefits of Using SPF
Rain, clouds, snow – regardless of the weather outside, you’re exposed to UV radiation daily. You could even be at risk if you’re indoors and positioned close to a window. Let SPF protect you! Wearing it provides you with the following benefits:
Aids your complexion. Putting sunscreen on each day helps to even your complexion as sun damage is one of the top causes of an uneven skin tone.
Sun protection. As mentioned previously, one of the most important benefits of SPF is its protective properties against the sun’s harmful rays. Even a mild sunburn can cause harmful damage to your skin. The results of that may not come into play until years – or decades – down the road.
Prevents premature aging. No sane person wishes for wrinkles. Keep them at bay when you apply sunscreen each day. Excess exposure to the sun’s rays is the perfect formula to prevent fine lines and deeper creases.
Say NO to cancer. By not wearing sunscreen, you’re putting yourself at a real risk of developing melanoma, an aggressive skin cancer that can be life-threatening. This is especially the case for women in their 20s. It’s also important to say “no” to tanning beds. Don’t fall for the falsehood that developing a “base tan” is equally protective. It’s not.
Smooth skin. Sunscreen protects your skin’s properties like keratin, the protein that helps to keep it smooth and healthy.
What’s a Good SPF for Daily Use?
As a professional esthetician, I can tell you there is no one SPF that is good for everyone. Also, the amount you should use is not standard. It can vary depending on the brand, the type, and most importantly, on YOU. Each person’s skin is unique.
For example, Pure Skin Pro has options for acne-prone clients, like all other stuff out there, sunscreen can be problematic for them. We also have SPF for dry skin, oily skin, and SPF that’s tinted.

Do My Kids Need SPF Daily?
Yes! One of my biggest concerns this time of year is the number of kids, active and back to sports, who continuously get sunburned and skin damaged. By the time these kids hit age 30, they’ll be battling wrinkles or worse! Parents add sunscreen once and forget about it, yet these kids are outside in the fields for hours and hours. Experts suggest reapplying a product with a sun protection factor every 2 hours, and if your child is active (sweating), the SPF may need to be applied even more often.
How Much SPF Do I Need Daily for Anti-aging?
The amount of SPF needed to provide anti-aging benefits depends on how much you’re exposed to the sun’s harmful rays each day. Research has found that an application of moisturizer with SPF 30, used daily, results in marked improvement in the skin’s appearance overall (not just on facial surfaces) and decreases the occurrence of skin pigmentation.
